Steps to Install a Paid SSL Certificate in Plesk Panel
First, you must remove the existing Let’s Encrypt certificate if installed in your panel. To do this, follow the steps below:
➢ Remove an SSL Certificate From the Plesk Panel
➔ Login to the Plesk panel
➔ After logging in, you have to locate and click on the ‘Websites & Domains’ section in the left menu.
➔ After that, a list of domains will appear; select a domain name by clicking on it where you are looking to install the paid SSL certificate.
➔ Locate the ‘Security’ section & click on ‘SSL/TLS Certificates’ in that section.
➔ A new page will appear. You have to click the ‘Manage’ button in the ‘Download or remove existing certificates’ section.
➔ Firstly, you have to click on the ‘Unassign Certificate’ button to unassign a certificate from your domain.
➔ Once it has been unassigned, click on the ‘Advanced Setting’ option.
➔ You will see a list of SSL certificates installed in your panel. To delete the certificate, click on the ‘Remove’ button.
➔ That’s it; your Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate has been deleted from your Plesk.

➢ Add an SSL Certificate in the Plesk Panel
➔ After you delete the certificate, you have to click on the ‘Add SSL/TLS Certificate’ button
➔ On a new page, scroll down to the ‘upload the certificate as text’ section & paste the following certificate in the text as given below:
- Certificate file (‘.crt’ extension)
- Private key file (‘.key’ extension)
- CA certificate file
*Note: You will get all these certificate details from the company where you have purchased the SSL certificate for your website.
➔ Once all details are filled in, click the ‘Upload Certificate’ button.

➢ Assign the SSL Certificate to a Domain
To assign a certificate to your domain, you are required to have administrator access to your Plesk account. You need to contact your hosting provider if you don’t have that access level.
➔ After installation, In the Plesk administrator panel, you have to navigate to the ‘Hosting & DNS’ section of the domain where you installed the SSL.
➔ In that section, click on the ‘Hosting’ option.
➔ On the new page, under the ‘SSL/TLS support’ section, you have to tick these two options:
- Enabled
- Redirect visitors from HTTP to HTTPS via an SEO-friendly 301 redirect.
➔ Once done, click the ‘Save’ button to finish the process.
